Review Of Magnum Sweet And Salty Almond Remix 440ml
Magnum first launched back in 1989 and quickly became an Aussie favourite. While the brand is best known for its ice cream stick range, they also make tubs.
This review looks at whether Magnum Sweet and Salty Almond Remix Ice Cream 440ml lives up to its reputation. I’ll help you decide if it’s worth a place in your freezer.
Is Magnum Sweet and Salty Almond Remix Ice Cream any good?
A container of Almond Remix is a melange of different flavours and textures that come together deliciously.
The tub features roasted almond ice cream with a chocolate casing and shards throughout. Salted honeycomb, caramelised almonds, and caramel sauce are hidden through the container.
The sauce makes up 11% of the container and is excellent. Its salty flavour balances out sweet ice cream and choc shards.
Almonds and honeycomb are harder to find in the tub, but the ratio is about right. There’s just enough to add some crunch to the frozen dessert.
The vanilla flavoured ice cream is creamy and smooth, although not as premium as most other pint-sized ice creams in the supermarket freezers.
Chocolate shards lie hidden through the tub, and they’re not hard to find. There’s also a delicious choc shell that encases the ice cream. A circle on the packaging shows you where to squeeze the tub to crack the shell – it’s surprisingly fun.
If you’re okay with using your hands to eat, use the shards to scoop ice cream into your mouth.
At over $10 for a 440ml container, it won’t fit everyone’s budget.
If you want to save money, an economy tub of vanilla ice cream and a cracked Easter egg should work in a pinch.
Pros
- Cracking the outer shell is fun.
- Lots of mix-ins are found in the ice cream.
- Chocolate sourced from high-quality cocoa beans.
- Supports the Rainforest Alliance and the use of recycled plastic.
Cons
- Expensive for the pack size.
- Made in Hungary (not Aussie made).
