Review Of Sara Lee Extreme Rocky Road Ice Cream 1L
Sara Lee is a classic Australian brand loved for its cheesecakes and other baked desserts. Have you ever wondered how their ice cream range stacks up?
This review looks at Sara Lee Extreme Rocky Road Ice Cream 1L. Find out if it’s worthy of your freezer space.
Is the ice cream any good?
Sara Lee Rocky Road Ice Cream is a premium product with a tonne of mix-ins. A rich and indulgent chocolate ice cream contains swirls of raspberry ripple.
Choc-coated peanuts and mini marshmallows are hidden through the tub. If you enjoy brands like Ben & Jerry’s with a lot going on, this is a great product for you.
The best part is you get a full one litre for a similar price to those super-premium pints.
The ice cream looks and tastes like the product used in Sara Lee Chocolate Ice Cream. It has a dense and slightly chewy texture, which is delicious. The texture was a little grainy, but overall enjoyably.
Was there anything not so good?
This tub isn’t suitable if you prefer ice cream without too many distractions. It’s got so much in there!
The nuts make the frozen dessert feel like you’re eating a breakfast cereal. It was the same with the Woolworths White Choc Maca Mango Ripple Ice Cream.
Pros
- The perfect tub if you like a lot of add-ins in the tub.
- Plenty of crunchy texture that most will enjoy.
- Easy to find in most supermarket freezers.
- Australian made.
Cons
- A gigantic ingredients label.
- A lot of air churned into the tub.
Are there better alternatives for the money?
I searched high and low but found no competing Rocky Road brands in Aussie supermarkets. The closest product is the Connoisseur Rocky Road Ice Cream 4 Pack.
Haagen-Dazs has a Rocky Road retail tub, but it’s unavailable here. Coles used to sell Ultimate Rocky Road but deleted the line.
What other flavours are available in the Sara Lee range?
Sara Lee has a small range of ice cream compared to brands like Connoisseur, Bulla, and Haagen-Dazs. Their flavours include:
- Sara Lee Creamy French Vanilla.
- Sara Lee Strawberries and Cream.
- Sara Lee Rich Ultra Chocolate.
- Sara Lee Irresistible Hokey Pokey.
- Sara Lee Baileys Original.
