How to make this dessert without an ice cream maker
If you don’t have an ice cream machine simply whisk together all the ingredients except the cookies and add straight to the freezer.
As it begins to harden, remove and beat until smooth. Return to the freezer until hard.
You can remove and whip the ice cream twice or even three times if you have the time. This will help incorporate more air into the ice cream.

Ingredients
- Cream
- Milk
- Vanilla
- Sugar
- Blue colour
- Oreo cookies or something similar
Once you have all your ingredients you’ll toss everything into the bowl except the cookies. Whisk until the sugar is mixed in.
Next, I pour the ice cream base into a jug to make it easier to pour into your ice cream machine.
As your ice cream gets close to the end of churning, toss in the cookies. If you add them too early they’ll crumble and break up resulting in an ice cream that doesn’t look to crash hot. So add them in the final minute of churning.
Expert tip: Freeze your cookies before adding to the ice cream. Room temperature add-ins will slightly melt the ice cream resulting in larger ice crystals in the end product.
Cookie Monster would be proud of this dessert!
This ice cream will be a winning dessert at your next kid’s party. Tone down the serving size unless you want over-active kids starting a mutiny. If you really hate food colouring you can use blueberries as a healthier, less colourful frozen dessert.
A side garnish of cookies? Your friends and family will thank you for it.
I could happily eat this ice cream straight from the scoop.
