Pint of Ben and Jerry's Oh My! Banoffee Pie! Ice Cream on a kitchen bench.

Review Of Ben & Jerry’s Oh My! Banoffee Pie! Ice Cream 427ml

Ben & Jerry’s is an iconic ice cream brand loved for its imaginative range of flavours. Their pints frequently combine ingredients like chunks of baked goods, candies, and swirls of sauces.

I taste-tested the entire range to work out if they live up to the hype. This review looks at Ben & Jerry’s Sundae Oh My! Banoffee Pie! Find out if it’s worth a spot in your freezer.

Is B&J Sundae Oh My! Banoffee Pie! any good?

If you enjoy banana flavour, then this is an excellent pint. It’s made with dense, indulgent ice cream and everything else combines to make a delicious dessert.

Banana ice cream is stuffed with chocolatey caramel cups and cookie swirls. The pint is topped with creamy whipped ice cream, caramel swirls and choc chunks.

The top section has very light and airy ice cream with a slightly runny caramel sauce running through it.

The bottom section is banana ice cream, that’s denser and more indulgent. Crunchy choc caramels lie hidden throughout the tub. There are also shortbread cookie pieces in the banana ice cream.

As you’d expect from a premium product, the ice cream is creamy and indulgent. Its dense and chewy texture is excellent.

The banana ice cream is dense and rich.

Were there any downsides to this Ben & Jerry’s pint?

The biscuit swirls make the ice cream a little grainy. I’d prefer it left out or added as a single layer so that it doesn’t mess with the ice cream.

It also melts much quicker than many cheaper tubs with more air churned into them. This isn’t a big problem – scoop fast.

There’s also a lot going on in this tub. If you want to enjoy premium ice cream without too many distractions, try B&J Chocolate Brownie or anything made by Haagen-Dazs.

While I enjoyed this B&J pint, it’s not cheap. If you decide to buy it, wait until it goes on promotion at preferably 50% off.

What do other customers think of this ice cream?

I looked at hundreds of online reviews to see what others think of this product. Here’s a summary:

Many customers praise the ice cream for its delicious blend of flavours. They enjoyed the combination of banana, caramel, chocolate, and cookie pieces, describing the taste as creamy, indulgent, and like a real Banoffee Pie.

Many reviewers enjoy this product.

On the other hand, some reviewers were less impressed. They criticised the ice cream’s lack of intense banana flavour, describing it as bland or artificial.

A few mentioned powdery or gritty texture, possibly due to the cookie swirls.

Chocolate and caramel are also points of contention for those who prefer a purer banana flavour or find the combination too sweet.

While most seem to enjoy this pint, plenty found it didn’t do justice to the banoffee pie.

Ingredients

Cream and skim milk are the main dairy ingredients for making this ice cream.

Ingredients List: Sugar, cream (milk) (19%), water, condensed skimmed milk, glucose syrup, vegetable oils (fully refined soybean, rapeseed), coconut fat, banana puree (2.2%), brown sugar, starch, glucose-fructose syrup, free range egg yolk, wheat flour, whole wheat flour, butter (milk), soluble corn fibre, cocoa powder, whole milk powder, fat-reduced cocoa powder, cocoa butter, emulsifiers (soy lecithins, sunflower lecithins), skimmed milk powder, salt, stabilisers (guar gum, locust bean gum, carrageenan), molasses, raising agent (sodium bicarbonate), lemon juice concentrate, natural vanilla flavouring, natural flavourings, vanilla extract, butter fat (milk).

Milk fat

Milk fat plays a vital role in ice cream’s texture and mouthfeel. More of it results in a creamier, smoother texture associated with superior ice cream.

Unfortunately, B&J doesn’t disclose the milk fat percentage in their products. I reached out to the company to get this information, but they responded with:

“We cannot give you the exact amount, but it is greater than 10%, meaning it is ice cream under the Australian and New Zealand regulations (Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code – Standard 2.5.6). We hope this information is helpful.”
